SFPA Represents Southern Pine at DeckExpo

SFPA Communications Manager Julia Milrod and retired SFPA Vice President of Communications Richard Wallace attended DeckExpo in Louisville in early November. Exhibiting as part of the Softwood Lumber Board’s Think Wood campaign, SFPA representatives were on hand to provide information, publications, and resources about Sothern Pine lumber to interested attendees.

As plastics and composite materials continue to permeate the world of decking and outdoor home improvements, it becomes increasingly important for Southern Pine to have representation at events like DeckExpo. SFPA representatives will attend DeckExpo 2020 in Baltimore.

Held annually, DeckExpo is a two-day event that attracts a wide variety of residential construction professionals, professional deck builders, dock and railing professionals, remodelers, general contractors, and other specialty contractors from North America and from around the world. The new Think Wood Mobile Tour exhibit box along with live building demonstrations by Mark Clements helped attract visitors to our booth. Although the second day (Friday, November 8) of the expo was significantly slower than the first, good conversations took place both days. Throughout the expo, there were some specific queries posed related to grading, permanent wood foundations, and proper application of pressure-treated Southern Pine.  Our Span Cards ware particularly popular among attendees and dozens were distributed over the course of the event.
