SFPA tabulates monthly Southern Pine shipment totals in collaboration with the Southern Pine Inspection Bureau (SPIB) and Timber Products Inspection (TP) and has annual shipment data going back to 1915.
Southern Pine lumber shipments in February totaled 1.420 billion board feet (Bbf), 21% below January’s revised shipments of 1.786 Bbf.
SFPA compiles monthly data on Southern Pine lumber exports and softwood lumber imports from the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service’s Global Agricultural Trade System (GATS).
Export totals by all countries focus on dressed and rough Southern Yellow Pine and treated lumber. Import totals, meanwhile, include all softwood lumber imported to the United States by USDA partners. SFPA’s analysis, which includes commentary, trends, and insight from our international consultants, focuses on month-over-month and year-over-year totals and comparisons.
February 2024 Southern Pine exports (treated and untreated) were up 26.6% in February over January and started the year up 30.2% YTD over the same two months in 2023.
