Southern Pine lumber exports (treated and untreated) are running 4% behind 2024 year to date through the first three quarters of 2025 at 428 MMBF, according to September 2025 data from the USDA’s Foreign Agriculture Services’ Global Agricultural Trade System.
Exports (treated and untreated) were, however, up 6% over the third quarter of 2024 and up 2% over the second quarter of 2025. When looking at the report on a monthly basis, September 2025 Southern Pine lumber exports were down 4% over September 2024 and down 15% over August 2025.
The value of 2025 Southern Pine-only exports is running 2% behind 2024 YTD at $166 million. Mexico leads the way YTD at $49 million, followed by the Dominican Republic at $32 million, and India at $15 million. Despite being down YTD, the value of Southern Pine exports is up 17% over the second quarter of 2025, but down 7% over the same quarter in 2024.
Treated lumber exports, meanwhile, were running 4% ahead of 2024 YTD at $103 million. The Leeward-Windward Islands lead the way through November at $18 million, followed by Jamaica at $14 million, and Barbados at $10 million. When looking at treated lumber exports by quarter, the value was up 19% over the third quarter of 2024 to $40 million and up 5% over the second quarter of 2025.
Softwood lumber imports are down 6% through the first three quarters of 2025 at 10 MMBF compared to the same period in 2024.

- Mexico remains the largest export market (by volume) of Southern Pine and treated lumber but is down 4% YTD with 115 MMBF.
- The Dominican Republic, the No. 2 importer of Southern Pine, is down 18% with 63 MMBF.
- Canada, now the No. 6 importer of Southern Pine lumber (treated and untreated), continues to run 8% ahead of 2024 YTD at 22 MMBF.
- India is on the rebound but remains down over 2024 with 26 MMBF.

- The Bahamas: up 12% with 17 MMBF.
- Barbados: up 94% to 16 MMBF.
- Netherland Antilles: up 30% at 12 MMBF.
- Belize: up 35% year-over-year with 12 MMBF.
- Haiti: up 53% with 10 MMBF.
- Trinidad and Tobago: up 5% with 7 MMBF.
- Honduras: up 251% with 5 MMBF.
