GMachine Company

The Southern Forest Products Association is proud to welcome GMachine Company as an associate member.

Portland, Oregon-based GMachine designs and builds equipment, specializing in edgers and gang saws for sawmill applications, to meet the industry’s highest performance standards, ensuring long-term success for:

  • Hardwood and softwood lumber producers
  • Specialty and pallet product manufacturers
  • Random-width lumber operations

A hallmark of GMachine Company is its ability to identify opportunities and deliver custom-engineered solutions tailored to each customer’s operation. Whether driven by specialized market requirements or space constraints limiting expansion, GMachine provides practical, high-value solutions backed by real-world sawmill experience.

Founder and Principal Greg Smith has been a leader in the design, manufacturing, and integration of softwood and hardwood edgers and gang saws since the early 1980s. Smith’s innovations have been implemented in sawmills worldwide, spanning all production capacities and product types.

President Kerry Wilson began his career in lumber manufacturing in 1979, applying the latest advances in computer-based scanning and optimization technologies. He has helped sawmills adopt new systems that maximize value recovery, increase production, and improve efficiency.

GMachine’s team of engineers and process specialists reflects its founder’s core values — combining decades of sawmill expertise with a deep understanding of circle sawing technology. The team believes “one size does not fit all,” so every system is purpose-built for its intended application. GMachine’s capabilities include:

  • Multi-saw board edgers
  • Versatile gang saw and canter systems
  • Combination board/gang machines
  • Specialized and custom configurations
  • Linear and transverse system designs
  • Sawmill flow and opportunity assessments

Every GMachine system is designed for long-term serviceability, enabling teams to maintain peak performance with minimal downtime or added strain on personnel and budget. Learn more at gmachinecompany.com.
