American Softwoods at EXCON

Representatives from American Softwoods converse with EXCON 2020 attendees at the AmSo booth

Representatives from American Softwoods attended EXCON in Lima, Peru to promote U.S. softwood lumber, engineered wood products, and structural panels in mid-October.

This was the 23rd iteration of EXCON and had over 400 visitors registered. Both national and international companies were in attendance and exhibited on 30,000 square meters of space. The exhibit hall was broken up into four different pavilions: machinery, equipment, design/finishes, and construction materials.

Some good contacts were made over the course of the show. Attendees expressed heavy interest in OSB and plywood with few also showing interest in Southern Yellow Pine, pressure treated SYP, and Ponderosa Pine lumber which is locally referred to as Oregon Pine. Attendees consisted largely of students and contractors. Relatively few importers were present.

Our efforts to promote American Softwoods in the area have been successful as the general amount of knowledge demonstrated by attendees about various U.S. softwoods and their applications was more extensive than it had been in the past.
