Lumber Shipments

SFPA tabulates monthly Southern Pine shipment totals in collaboration with the Southern Pine Inspection Bureau (SPIB) and Timber Products Inspection (TP) and has annual shipment data going back to 1915.

april 2025 Shipments

Southern Pine lumber shipments in April totaled 1.932 billion board feet (BBF), 6% above March’s revised shipments of 1.830 BBF.

Southern Pine Exports, Softwood Lumber Imports

SFPA compiles monthly data on Southern Pine lumber exports and softwood lumber imports from the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service’s Global Agricultural Trade System (GATS).

Export totals by all countries focus on dressed and rough Southern Yellow Pine and treated lumber. Import totals, meanwhile, include all softwood lumber imported to the United States by USDA partners. SFPA’s analysis, which includes commentary, trends, and insight from our international consultants, focuses on month-over-month and year-over-year totals and comparisons.

may 2025 Exports

May 2025 Southern Pine lumber exports (treated and untreated) were down 18% over the same month in 2024 at 48.9 MMBF and down 14.8% over April 2025, according to May 2025 data from the USDA’s Foreign Agriculture Services’ Global Agricultural Trade System.
