Lumber Shipments

SFPA tabulates monthly Southern Pine shipment totals in collaboration with the Southern Pine Inspection Bureau (SPIB) and Timber Products Inspection (TP) and has annual shipment data going back to 1915.

January 2025 Shipments

Southern Pine lumber shipments in January totaled 1.701 billion board feet (BBF), 4% above December’s revised shipments of 1.638 BBF.

Southern Pine Exports, Softwood Lumber Imports

SFPA compiles monthly data on Southern Pine lumber exports and softwood lumber imports from the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service’s Global Agricultural Trade System (GATS).

Export totals by all countries focus on dressed and rough Southern Yellow Pine and treated lumber. Import totals, meanwhile, include all softwood lumber imported to the United States by USDA partners. SFPA’s analysis, which includes commentary, trends, and insight from our international consultants, focuses on month-over-month and year-over-year totals and comparisons.

february 2025 Exports

February 2025 Southern Pine lumber exports (treated and untreated) were up 4.7% to 40.8 MMBF over January but were down 15% over February 2024.
