| Types of Wood Preservatives |
Several waterborne preservatives are commonly used including Chromated Copper Arsenate (CCA), Alkaline Copper Quat (ACQ), Copper Azole (CA) and Sodium Borate (SBX). As of December 31, 2003 CCA has been withdrawn for most residential consumer-use treated lumber applications. CCA treatment will continue to be allowed for certain industrial, agricultural, foundation, and marine applications. See a list of products that may continue to be treated with CCA here.
